The regenerative farm

- so what is regenerative farming? -

Farming hand in hand with nature to increase biodiversity

Regenerative farming is an approach and a mindset shift.

It focuses the decision making on utilising natural systems, natural processes, harnessing the intricate relationships between sunlight, photosynthetic plants, livestock and the soil microbiome to improve whole farm health, from the soil up.

By actively working to feed soil life (microbial, fungal, and bacterial) using a mixture of animal impact, manures, plant growth and rest, we aim to have an active, biologically functioning ecosystem that provides for itself and thrives in an environment free of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and external inputs.

Without soils, we are nothing

At its heart regenerative farming seeks to regenerate our ecosystems, our soils and our biodiversity.
We are not satisfied with sustainability, why sustain a depleted environment?
The most import thing we can do, is improve the world we live in, and this is our goal, to build soil, and bring life and abundance to our natural world.
Years of extractive farming has reduced the natural biological activity of our soils, we aim to restore these systems and create resilience for the farm in a time of challenging and unpredictable climate, and economic uncertainty.

Reconnecting people with nature

Regenerative farming seeks also to restore and connect rural communities, building profitable rural businesses that provide connections to those outside of day-to-day farming and food production.
Restoring our important connection with nature; we are of nature, and it is vital to our health and the health of our world that we are connected to it once more, allowing improved understanding of the importance of soil and organic systems in providing healthy, nutrient dense food.

This is a grassroots movement, built and developed by farmers across the world, pulling in soil scientists and microbiologists.
It provides an approach that takes us out of the hands of large agricultural supply chains, provides independence from expensive inputs, whilst producing the highest welfare, and healthiest food.
Healing soils helps to sequester carbon.
Allowing rest within our growing season provides habitat and space for insects, small mammals and more diverse plant species. Nature doesn’t do simple systems, we try and allow diversity and complexity and through that we bring healing and health.

"Had the most amazing stay at Baston Hall with 19 family members. The hosts Rosanna and Ian catered to our every need and were on hand to answer any questions we had - whether about the house or farm life in general! The house was spectacular with amazing furnishings and it felt both luxurious and comfortable at the same time. The surroundings were picture perfect and we enjoyed taking a walk to the pub and admiring the views on the way. We would truly recommend this house to anyone looking to spend quality time with family or friends."

"Just retuned from a four day stay at Baston Hall to celebrate my wife’s birthday with the rest of our family.
Wow! What a fantastic place and such a great setting. We literally did not leave the estate from the time we arrived.......why would you!?
The main house and annex are decorated to the highest standard and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The decor is just stunning and the beds were heaven!
The grounds were beautiful and we had full use of the lake; tennis court; table tennis and fields.
On one evening we hired in a private chef as recommended by Rosanna and Ian and again, this surpassed all expectations.....a truly amazing experience and top top food!
We are already thinking about when we can next visit this gem of a place, up there with some of the best places we have stayed in around the world!"

"We just returned from a family holiday here and wow, what an amazing place, like something out of a dream. The house itself is really something special; the bedrooms and other spaces are all top notch.
Outside the 'estate' is huge and you are free to roam with the sheep and ducks! There are tennis courts, a lake with rowing boat and paddle board, areas to just chill and read with a glass of vino and great places for an outside BBQ.
If you want to escape to the pub (like me), there is a beautiful walk along the Worcester way to a lovely little local that sells great beer and food.
Anyway back to the review! Rosanna and team are great hosts that are on hand for anything you could need, we also had a very special dinner one evening hosted by a chef and company who came and did everything for us even the washing up.
So, if you want somewhere to retreat to with some good friends and/or family then you have found it!
It would be amazing to come back here some day in the future."

"We stayed at Baston Hall over the weekend with a group of friends and had an absolutely lovely time. We never left the property as it has so much to offer - paddle boards, row boat, footpaths all around the properly, lawn games, you name it! Rosanna and her husband were super hosts who set us up with everything we needed upon arrival and was available throughout the weekend for any questions."

"From the very first conversation with Rosanna, i knew that Baston Hall was somewhere a little more special than your usual country retreats.
Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, every item of furniture and every room decoration has been done the absolute highest standard- it was a pleasure to stay here.
Rosanna was so incredibly helpful, from recommending a private chef to showcasing the properties amazing farm walks- I really could not have been happier with how the weekend went.
We stayed as a group of 17, which in most cases you would find someone drew the short straw- however every room contains a superking bed and the house is more than able to accommodate that many people.
I will stay here again- i have no doubt about it!
Thank you again to Ian & Rosanna for a lovely weekend."

"We had a fantastic stay at Baston Hall - 16 of us aged from 8 months to 87 years ! A family get together which we try to do each year but our first stay at Baston Hall. Rosanna and Iain have created a wonderful luxurious Elizabethan country home which we felt totally spoilt to stay in. set in the most beautiful countryside it has a lake on its doorstep with a rowing boat and paddle boards to use. The main house with 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, snug, dining room and huge lounge each has its own charm. The stable block close by has 3 further bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all of these were absolutely stunning. It’s obvious that Rosanna has impeccable taste, and each rooms furnishings individually thought through, with hand painted walls, and the most delightful fabrics, her attention to detail can be seen throughout.
We found Rosanna and Iain attentive when needed, giving us a wonderful family funfilled break away which was totally relaxed. Thank you for such a lovely family long weekend."

"What a wonderful find!
Having had to reschedule due to unexpected circumstances, our family’s spring break last weekend was idyllic.
New calves, ducklings and fresh eggs, one could not ask for more but, paddle boarding, tennis, boules, ping pong and giant jenga kept us all busy. The house was sumptuous with everything our party of 17, ranging from 4 to 80, could want.
Thank you to our hosts for your warm welcome. I hope you have an abundance of delighted guest at Baston Hall."
